Train for Survival
"It's not the most powerful animal that survives.
It's the most efficient" - GSP
Our performance (fitness level) can mean the difference between life and death.
Showing up to work in poor physical condition is irresponsible. Are we holding ourselves accountable to our crew, the citizens we serve and most importantly our family? Our jobs require very high levels of physical conditioning. The goal is to become the most efficient firefighter, on the fire ground. Our gear and envioronmental conditions are a constant force that we must overcome to complete our task. Through intense physical training we prepare our body for the demands of the job. Through intense physical training we change our baseline from one of, training in a place of comfort, to becoming comfortable being uncomfortable. As we make that change, true progress is made. We become fit to fight fire.
"Become comfortable being uncomfortable."- jjs
On Staying Fit
The vision of a great firefighter, is some one drenched in sweat to the point of complete exhaustion when nobody else is watching.
